Rooftop Rodeo and Parade
As early as 1908 Estes Park had a "rodeo type event", called a "Frontier Day celebration." Now in its 81st year, the Rooftop Rodeo is continuing to honor the town's western heritage. An event sanctioned by the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), in 2003 and 2006 the Rooftop Rodeo was named the "Small Rodeo of the Year" by the association. On July 10, festivities will begin again with the Rooftop Rodeo Parade in downtown Estes Park. The Rooftop Rodeo Queens Dance is held Saturday evening, July 14, at the Estes Park Conference Center and is hosted by the Rodeo Queen and royalty. Every night, six performances of events, including saddle bronc and bareback riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding will occur at the Stanley Park Fairgrounds. Mutton Bustin, a competition for the younger children, is an additional, very popular attraction each night.
