Rocky Mountain National Park Rocky Mountain National Park offers some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in the U.S. National Park system, some of which is accessed by the highest continuously-paved road in the United States -- Trail Ridge Road. With more than 355 miles of hiking trails and numerous camping facilities, the park is also a center for outdoor recreation and wildlife viewing. Elk, bighorn sheep, deer, and moose are commonly seen here. The park contains a number of excellent visitor centers and museums, including the Alpine Visitor Center at an elevation of 11,795 feet, where the flora and fauna of the alpine tundra can be observed. The small towns of Estes Park on the eastern boundary of the park and Grand Lake on the western boundary provide the visitor with convenient lodging, recreation, and dining opportunities.
